EYERIES/BERE-ISLAND

A view over Eyeries towards Kenmare River and the Atlantic ocean.

In the southwest of Ireland you find three big peninsulas: DINGLE, KERRY and BEARA. Our houses are on BEARA PENINSULA, located approximately 5 kilometres northwest of CASTLETOWNBERE, the only major town and harbour of the area.

You reach CASTLETOWNBERE in 15 minutes and the next village EYERIES in 5 minutes by car.

There is a small sandy beach next to a picturesque harbour called TRAVARA STRAND, a bay where you can swim or do fishing, if you like. And if you look for a bigger sandy beach you'll find it at ALLIHIES, the next little village along the BEARA COAST ROAD, about 20 minutes by car. The best way to get to the beach at ALLIHIES is a trip by bike along this coastal road, you see in the picture below. Or you may decide to go to ALLIHIES over the hills, which would be a longer tour of course but offering breathtaking views.
